The Retreat Women's Health Center recognized as National Top Performer for 4th straight year
Dec. 18, 2009
GOSHEN, Ind. - When The Retreat Women's Health Center opened its doors in 2003 it was with the goal of creating a culture of patient care developed by women, for women. In its seventh year, the drive and dedication of bringing women in the community an unprecedented level of care and customer service remains the same.
As a result of that unwavering commitment, The Retreat has been named a Summit Award Winner by Press Ganey Associates for the fourth year in a row. Given annually, the Summit Award recognizes top performing healthcare facilities that sustain the highest level of customer satisfaction for three or more consecutive years.
Home of Goshen Health System's state-of-the-art women's services program, The Retreat Women's Health Center has maintained 98-99th percentile Press Ganey customer satisfaction ranking since its opening.
The Summit Award is the healthcare satisfaction industry's most coveted symbol of achievement. Press Ganey announced its elite list of 2009 award winners during its National Client Conference in Dallas, Texas in November, where over two thousand healthcare leaders gathered to discuss key issues related to healthcare quality improvement.
The Retreat Women's Health Center is just one of only 14 outpatient facilities in the nation - and the only Indiana facility in Indiana - to receive this prestigious honor in 2009.
"When The Retreat was designed it was with very careful assessment of what women needed and sought after," said Laurie Busby, Executive Director of The Retreat Women's Health Center. "Winning this Summit Award means so much to us because it means we are truly meeting the needs of the women we serve, and that is why we do what we do every day."
The Retreat's comprehensive women's services program brings full-field digital mammography system, lunar bone densitometry and 4D ultrasound equipment, as well as massage, a health resource center with on-site health educator, complementary medicine therapies and cosmetic services to women in the community.
Much of The Retreat's success is attributed to its culture of responding to women's needs and requests, based upon the foundation of personalized customer service. The outpatient facility has created a unique environment that is welcoming to women while still offering a high level of service excellence. This includes convenient hours and same day service, from walk-in screening mammogram appointments and same day diagnostic results to opening its doors at 6:30 a.m., staying open through lunch and offering evening hours until 7 p.m. three times a week.
The Retreat's patient philosophy is led by Medical Director Dr. Laura L. Morris, MD, MBA, FACS, a board-certified breast surgeon. She serves as a physician champion while coordinating patient care, overseeing clinical and education programs and integrating these programs and services into clinical care practices.
"The positive response from patients, colleagues and the community has been overwhelming," said Dr. Morris. "It is rewarding to see our efforts recognized at the national level, but that does not mean our commitment to excellent patient care ends there. We will continue to raise the bar every year to ensure that the women who visit feel secure and taken care of and most importantly, feel good about receiving care here."
